The Hanazono Rugby Stadium is the oldest stadium in Japan built exclusively for rugby.
It opened in 1929 and has been beloved by Japanese rugby fans ever since.
The stadium has hosted the annual National High School Rugby Tournament since the 42nd tournament held in 1963.
Today it is considered to be the “mecca” of high school rugby.
People come from all over Japan to see the sport’s best players compete in Top League rugby union and international matches.
The Hanazono Rugby Museum was recently renovated and has opened its doors to both rugby fans and first-time visitors from all over the country interested in the history of Hanazono Rugby Stadium.
The museum displays informative panels on the history of rugby, along with numerous items such as rugby jerseys (both new and old), signed balls, and commemorative items.
Visitors can learn the rules of rugby by watching a video or find out about the past champions and runners-up of the National High School Rugby Tournament at a special exhibit.
Please enjoy visiting the museum where you can get a feel for rugby's unique energy, learn about the spirit of rugby, and experience the hallowed ground of Hanazono.
Lastly, the management would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude to everyone who has helped in the reopening of the museum.
