The ninth edition of the Rugby World Cup was held in Japan from September 20th to November 2nd, 2019. World Rugby, the organization that holds the rights to the Rugby World Cup, mandates that the tournament be held every four years. The Rugby World Cup is seen as the third largest sporting event in the world, after the Olympics and the football World Cup.
Here in Higashiosaka City, the Hanazono Rugby Stadium played host to four matches involving seven different nations.
The phrase used to promote the tournament was: ONCE IN A LIFETIME. This exhibition seeks to capture the memories and events of those times, in what was an unforgettable tournament for the host nation Japan.
It is our hope that as visitors pass through this permanent exhibition in the museum, they will gain a deeper understanding of Higashiosaka and our passion for rugby.
